Corn Boy

Corn Boy is an interesting character found on Page 3, where he lives in a small farmhouse with Peter and his daughter, Sensei.

Corn Boy is a talking doll who is in possession of the Slingshot, an item which Tingle requires to advance to Page 4. He freely gives the item to Tingle when asked.

Eagle

Eagle is a secret agent found on Page 10. His code name is Shiishii-chan. When Tingle calls him by that name, he’ll receive a memo, which contains a riddle. When the riddle is solved, it will lead Tingle to the next agent, where he is given another riddle. Eagle’s mother works at the Page 10 passport office, and wants Tingle to help find Eagle a job.

As part of a sidequest, Tingle can obtain a job for Eagle. To do this, he must speak to the old tree on Page 4, and obtain his sapling. When he gives it to Eagle, he will plant it in the city park, and succeed in growing it to where it produces it’s own seeds.

Iona

Iona is one of Tingle’s numerous love interests. She first appears on Page 6, and then later on Pages 7 and 8. The first time Tingle meets her, she is walking around in the jungle. When she sees him, she runs away in terror and locks herself in her father’s store. Tingle won’t be able to further interact with her until he is on Page 7, where he can give her gifts in a Love Push.

To unlock Iona’s third heart, so that Tingle can use the Love Push on her, she must be given a dress that can be found in a local store.

Liar

Liar is one of Tingle’s love interests. She first appears on Page 11, in Usotami Village. She is the daughter of the Usotami chief. When she first sees Tingle, she runs away in tears. If Tingle is able to select her Goat out of a large herd, she will reward him with the Goat Milk.

Loveya

Loveya is a character who first appears on Page 6, where he helps Tingle make a shortcut by moving a large barrel. After that, he offers Tingle advice on Love Pushing, and gives him some free items to try it out with. After Tingle uses up those items, he can purchase more from Loveya’s shop. He keeps his shop open on Page 7 and Page 8, as well. On Page 10, he offers to sell Tingle level 2 items, which will work for gaining a second heart with Tingle’s love interests. Later on, he is willing to sell Tingle level 3 items.

Masaru

Masaru is a mischievous monkey that lives on Pages 6, 7 and 8. When Tingle first encounters Masaru, he is mocked by the monkey, whom he cannot reach, as he is up in a tree. Masaru has a fear of dogs, and when Tingle lures him to the ground with a Banana, the dog will attack Masaru. During the fight, Masaru will drop the dentures that he stole from a fisherman.

Later on, Tingle has the opportunity to have Masaru temporarily join his party, if he allows Kakashi to remain behind. Masaru can help out by climbing trees, and bringing down fruits and even a hat at times. Masaru can also perform several hilarious poses which have no apparent effect. After Iona unlocks the gate, Masaru will captain the boat that takes Tingle to the dungeon island.

Peter

Peter is a corn farmer located on Page 3. He lives in a small farmhouse with his daughter, Sensei, and talking doll, Corn Boy. His daughter is leaving home, and just so happens to be one of Tingle’s love interests.

Peter’s leg was injured when Buriki’s spaceship crash-landed in his field, smashing into his tractor. For Tingle to move on to page 4, he must help Buriki leave in her ship. He must do several things to complete this task, which includes replacing Buriki’s Batteries, and oiling her.

After Tingle helps him out, Peter takes Tingle, Kakashi, and Buriki to Page 4.

Segare

Segare is a mysterious, hooded character that first appears on Page 4, when he stops Tingle, Buriki, and Kakashi from crossing a suspension bridge by cutting it down. He then pulls out an Ocarina, similar in style to that of the Ocarina of Time, and plays it to call his horse, whom he rides off with. He appears again at the end of Page 5, when he drops down from a tree shortly after Tingle and friends have departed.

At the end of Page 8, Segare takes off his hood, and is seen from behind wearing a crown. He then runs off to the beginning of Page 9, where he pushes a ramp in front of Tingle’s train, the 751-VL1096, causing it to jump the tracks, and end up on an old mining facility rail system.

He makes another appearance on Page 11, where he is dressed up as a clown at a theme park, and is juggling with his horse, who is playing the accordion. He waits until Kakashi comes over to watch them perform, and for Tingle and the others to turn their backs. When Tingle returns, Kakashi is missing, and Segare’s clown suit is lying on the ground. Buriki finds some tracks which leads the group to a desert peak. There, they see Segare far below, riding across the dessert, with Kakashi on the back of his horse.

At the end up the page, Tingle finds Kakashi tied to a stalagmite in a cave behind the Usotami Village. As soon as Lion beaks the chains, Segare shows up, and calls Big Liar. However, the giant monster instead chooses to eat Segare, but soon spits him out, and shoots him through the roof.

On Page 13, Tingle wakes up to find paint splattered all over Castle Town, and bumps into Segare, who is wearing a Tingle suit. Segare had hired three others to dress as Kakashi, Buriki, and Lion, and vandalize the town, causing Tingle and his party to be arrested.

Shortly after, Tingle and his friends are able to escape the prison, due to the fact that they have befriended one of the guards. As they enter the Emerald City Castle Courtyard, Segare attacks them approaching in a large robot. While this is happening, his horse pushes a spiked wall up behind Tingle and his trio, blocking any escape. Segare corners them, and begins to push them back against the wall. However, each of Tingle’s friends use their respective abilities to flip over the robot, and Tingle uses a screwdriver to take apart the machine. When Segare manages to right the robot, he falls out underneath it, and the machine topples over to crush him.

It is later revealed that Segare was relatively unharmed, as he races in to aid his mother after she is defeated by Tingle. He is then arrested by the Emerald City guards, and taken off to prison.

Sensei

Sensei is one of Tingle’s love interests, who first appears on Page 3, where she lives her father, Peter, and talking doll, Corn Boy, in a small farmhouse. The first time Tingle meets her, she is leaving home, presumably on a short trip. When she sees Tingle for the first time, she will quickly depart. When Tingle returns in the Balloon Trip Mode, she will climb up a water tower until he gives her enough gifts in a Love Push.

Tingle

Tingle is seen once again as an ordinary 35-year-old man in the beginning. While he is watching a television program, he sees a commercial advertising a book, which is supposed to increase the reader’s popularity among women. The book is delivered within a moment of him ordering it. However, Tingle is sucked inside the book the instant he opens it, and finds himself in a picture book world. He shortly finds out that the only way to exit the world is to dance with the princess who lives in Emerald City.

During Tingle’s quest, he meets three friends: Kakashi; the scarecrow, Buriki; the robot, and Lion; the lion. These new-found friends help Tingle out along the way by solving puzzles and fighting enemies.
