What the heck is Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip?!

Welcome to our legendary section, the Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip pages! (The game is also known as Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love, Irodzuki Tincle No Koi No Balloon Trip, and is sometimes mistranslated as Irozuki Tingle No Koi No Balloon Trip) We are the only English site with a walkthrough or secrets guide for this game, and we’re proud of it!

Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip was released in Japan on August 6, 2009. The game sold considerably well, and is considered to be one of Vanpool’s most successful titles, along with Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. The game largely creates a loose parody of The Wizard of Oz, involving Kakashi, the brainless scarecrow, Buriki, the heartless robot, and Lion, the cowardly, well, lion. Not to mention that there’s also a yellow-brick road that leads to the Emerald City.

This game greatly varies from it’s predecessor, as it is a point-and-click game, as opposed to a free-roaming world that is typical in the  Legend of Zelda series, and the Tingle series thus far. The only time that the control pad is used (opposed to the stylus) is during a dungeon mini-game, where one can be purchased for 1,000 Rupees. Although this is an adventure game, the backstory and overall goal is for the player to find Tingle a girlfriend. In order to attract one of the half-dozen specimens, Tingle must engage in a gift-giving event, not dissimilar from the Harvest Moon games. The other goal is to find a way home for Tingle, which can only be done by following the yellow-brick road to the Emerald City.
