I deeply apologize that we’re a bit behind the ball on this update, as we’ve all been focused on improving the website’s appearance and functionality. To get straight to the point, a new trailer for Ocarina of Time 3D has just been leaked, and we’d like to share it with those who have not already viewed it. The video is right below:

I must say that I’m extremely impressed with the visual appearance of the game. It feels so much more bright and crisp, as opposed to the original. This game is looking better and better all the time. I’m just a little wary of the estimated $300 price tag that’s rapidly approaching…

Hey out there to all handheld and standard Zelda fans alike, and a happy holiday season to all of you! I am out with a new piece in anticipation of the upcoming release of the Nintendo 3DS and, more importantly to most loyal Zelda fans, the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that will accompany it under the title of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Like many I am sure are pondering the same question, I have been quietly weighing the pros and cons of buying this new handheld system largely for my love of the Zelda series.

While that sentiment was definitely present with the release of the Wii and the concurrent release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess back in 2006, this is the first time I have really been confronted with such a scenario for a handheld system. With past Zelda releases, I was able to play most handheld Zelda games on my Gameboy Color system for a good number of years, not necessitating much of a change until the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and its successors. The release of the first Nintendo DS game, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass did prompt me to finally break down and buy a DS in 2007, but by that time the DS had been out for a few years and the price had come down somewhat to where it was more economical.

Ocarina of Time 3D 1Many apologies for the lack of updates, but quite frankly, we don’t like fluff, and there’s been no real news for any portable Legend of Zelda games. Until now. The biggest development we’ve seen for quite some time is finally here: More news, images and even some video footage of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D has been released.

First off, I’ll start with the video. For those of you who are too lazy to watch the whole lineup, the “Zelda” segment starts at about 2:31 into the video.

I’ve got to say that, although it’s great to have the footage, five seconds doesn’t really do the game justice. Oh, well. I’m sure we’ll start to see a lot more in the near future. My guess is that Ocarina of Time 3D will be a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS. You’ll also notice that there’s a few new screenshots, as well (four in all).

Finally, we have the Japanese release date for the Nintendo 3DS. It is currently set for February 26th, 2011. That’s really not too far away, and I suspect it’ll deploy stateside around that period. European releases are usually only a few weeks later than their American and Japanese counterparts, so it’ll probably be close together around the board.

*Thanks to Zelda Universe for the news updates!

It seems that some footage of OoT 3D has finally come around! Check out the video for a look. (Skip to about 1:20 to view the actual gameplay.)

Looks exciting! I’m still on edge waiting for it (even though I’m more into Skyward Sword.)

Ocarina of Time for the 3DS image 6After quite a few debates for the last 18 or so hours, we can finally announce that it’s official; There will be an Ocarina of Time remake for the 3DS. To the right, you’ll see the final image which we’ve uncovered (though none of these pics are really “special secrets” anymore). However, we must let some of the hopes dwindle a bit; It’s not confirmed that it will be the full version of “Ocarina of Time”. Nintendo is still playing around with it, and using it to test the functionality of the system.

According to Kotaku, Ocarina of Time 3D is “like a few other 3DS titles shown off so far is merely a tech demo for the new hardware”. However, it sound like the head honchos at the big “N” are so desiring to have this full game on the NIntendo 3DS, so maybe it will come true. You can view the official news on Nintendo’s E3 site. Once there, click on “Nintendo Titles”.

We hope that you’re still excited, as we sure are. Also, as a side-note, if Ocarina of Time does make it to the 3DS, we’ll be covering the game right here, at Zelda in my Pocket.
