Sorry it’s taken so long to get news to you regarding our game, Kakashi: The Search for Tingle. It’s been quite busy, but I can assure you that we’re still working on this project!

This post here is to announce that version 2.10 is now available in the Kakashi site’s downloads section as a normal update, rather than Wi-Fi only. I know it’s a small announcement, but it’s news nonetheless.

I hope you all enjoy this ‘very’ minor update, and I hope to be bringing you some real news shortly.

Kakashi: The Search for Tingle Now Has Wi-Fi Features

Hey, all! We’ve got a couple of news pieces regarding our Kakashi title. The first one is fun: We have yet another piece of art, and if I do say so myself, it looks quite… tough. Who knew Kakashi had a side to him like this? Regardless, it’ll be added to our collection, which you can enjoy.

The second update is more or less… ground-breaking. Yes, Kakashi: The Search for Tingle will feature Wi-Fi. But you already knew that if you read an earlier post on the Kakashi Site. However, we bet you didn’t know it would come this soon. Yes, that’s right, it’s here. Today we’re announcing our Demo Engine 2.00, which is very, very special. Let us explain: First off, this file will void Demo Engine 1.0; you’ll have to grab this one for it to work. After booting it up, you won’t see any differences in the game. The only change you’ll see is a new button added to the main menu, named “update”.

At the same time, we’ve also released Demo Engine 2.10, but you won’t find it in the downloads section. “Why not?”, you ask. The reason being is that by clicking the “update” button, you’ll download version 2.10 and it will automatically patch your game with the updates! What lies in update 2.10? Just download it and find out! (Don’t worry; it’s nothing spectacular; just enough to show you our capabilities.) As always, keep in mind that these are beta files, and are prone to various bugs and glitches.

Although a small handful of Nintendo DS Homebrew games have implemented Wi-Fi in some fashion, we wish to point out that none have been as intricate as this. The only other possibility would be DSOrganize, a high-tech Wi-Fi enabled organizer, which allowed you to download Homebrew games from a library. Sadly, it’s now an obsolete project.

Kakashi: The Search for Tingle Engine Demo Release

The title says it all, doesn’t it? We are pleased to announce to you two separate events… The first one is that our test demo is ready! The second is that we are announcing our new site, kakashi.zeldainmypocket.com! All of this is pretty self-explanatory, but let me remind you that these are not the final animations or textures; this is simply to show you that the game is being worked on, as well as to demonstrate the engine.

The game can be found on the Kakashi site’s download page. Thanks for being so patient throughout the game’s development, and a special thanks to Alex Plunkett and Justin Folvarcik for their hard work!

Also, as you’ll see on the Kakashi website, our game will be featuring more than just single-player; it will have a multiplayer mode, as well as Wi-Fi. Now isn’t that something?

Minish

Manga

As many sites around the community have been boasting about, the “original” Legend of Zelda manga has finally been translated into English. Overall, it’s one of the better mangas, at least in our opinion. It goes quite deep into the theme of the original Logend of Zelda game, but it also deviates from the plotline quite a bit. That could be a plus or minus, depending on where you stand on the canon. Either way, I nabbed and colorized an awesome piece of art from it, seen to the right. Kakashi

Though not ready yet, we’ve made good headway on the demo engine. Keep in mind that when our release comes, you won’t see much; the engine is essentially the core of the game, involving the character’s coding, movement, etc. The rest wiull start to come along soon once we get over this hump. Once again, we apologize for the wait, but know that we’ve been very busy. Though it’s unlaunched, I can tell you all that we’re working on a seperate website to specifically cover the game. Pegasus Boots

To cut to the chase, our site’s been growing in both traffic and size. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a longer load time added to our already long load time. So after a few cuts (we promise you won’t know the difference!), we’ve been able to reduce our load time by an average of about 40%! Overall, we’re quite excited about this, as it makes the world a more friendly place! In the future we hope to cut down the load times even more. Thanks for checking us out!

Staffer Wins PC Game Contest + New Video You May Not Have Seen

Just an exciting update- one of our staffers has just won a big cash prize for designing a winning PC game! Most of you may know Alex Plunkett as being our lead coder for Kakashi: The Search for Tingle. The total prize money was $500.00, which we’re sure he can use to create even better games! Stop by in our comments section, and tell him congratulations, and also thank him for working so dilligently on the Kakashi title.

In other not-so-news, there’s a video that you may have missed; apparently, not too many Zelda fans have actually seen it, but yes, it’s official, and from the first Legend of Zelda title. That video is actually a commercial. A really pimped-out commercial. Just watch it below.

Welcome to my (GhostDEFENDER’s) little review. To start, what we have here is something a bit different. It’s not every day that we have a Zelda spin-off as unique as Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip (TLBT). In case you were wondering, this game has several translated titles. Apart from Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip, we also have

The list goes on; you’d be surprised at the number of titles I’ve seen floating around for the same game. Also, don’t forget the abbreviations (i.e. TLBT, CCTBToL). It’s worth pointing out that it has recently blown towards “Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip” and “Irodzuki Tincle No Koi No Balloon Trip” due to cooperation from leading websites on the game, such as GameFAQs.com, GameSpot.com, NDSGame.info, and ZeldaInMyPocket.com.

When the past installment in the Tingle series, Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland, was released, it received an excellent welcome wagon in Japan (no sarcasm), as well as in America (sarcasm). Whether gamers were fans of Tingle or not, most who played the game actually enjoyed it, and many have said it is one of their favorite games in the Zelda series.

Will the sequel live up to its predecessor’s glory? Read on, my friends, read on.

As I loaded up the game, I was (pleasantly) surprised to see that several new characters had been added to the series. I watched the opening cutscene, and saw that it was good. (No pun intended.) However, when it came time for me to navigate around my room, I was a bit confused. “Why isn’t this stupid control pad working?!”, I asked myself. Within the next few moments, I realized that this was a point-and-click adventure game.

For those of you who remember, Lucasarts had quite a few of these games way back when. (These included the infamous Monkey Island games, which have recently made their way to WiiWare.)

At first I was dismayed to come to this realization. I loved Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland. I wanted another Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland. I don’t want this crappy point-and-click game! …But after playing for about half-an-hour, I began to change my mind. I noticed how vivid the colors were, and how well-developed the character’s personalities were (surprising, seeing as I couldn’t even read the dialog; the expressions from the small sprites conveyed everything that I needed to know). The game had a cheerful atmosphere to go along with it, too. The music was also great; it seemed to mix a little bit of the old in with some new. I started to thoroughly enjoy myself.

Then, it happened- I got stuck. After trying almost every possible avenue I saw, I had nowhere left to turn. And I was only on Page Two. You see, this game is divided up into pages. Each page has several sections (usually about three, but sometimes up to five) that Tingle must venture through to complete the page.

Eventually, I figured out what to do after messing around using various items for an hour or so. For this particular style of point-and-click adventure, you search for items, use them on other items, and use the effects in different areas. For example, you might search through a pile of corn husks, and find an ear of corn. You take inside a farmer’s hut, and use it on the fire to roast it. You can then take the cooked corn and give it over to a statue.

Or in a another instance, you can use a slingshot to strike a crow, causing it to drop a much-needed battery. There are so many items, and so many objects, it’s hard to know what to interact with, and how.

From what I’ve seen so far, this is a very rewarding game; it has plenty of challenges, to be sure, but isn’t that what Nintendo fans have been asking for, especially when it comes to Zelda? Of course, it’s debatable as to whether this is actually a “Zelda” game, per say. Personally, I take the stance of it “not” being a Zelda game within itself, but more of being a part of Zelda.

For those of you interested in purchasing this game, I would suggest that you wait for an English release, as this is a very text-heavy game. Well into the game, very difficult puzzles will await you, many of them which are almost impossible to complete without some understanding of the language. However, it undeniably makes the game a ‘quite’ bit harder, so if you’re looking for a real challenge, go ahead and give it a spin!

Let’s just hope that this humor-filled game comes to America soon, as it’s something you don’t want to miss out on.

Kakashi: The Search for Tingle Music Preview

Well, it’s not quite the demo you’ve all been waiting for, but it’s pretty good, depending on your style. What we have here are a few preview tracks that are “planned” to appear in our fan game, Kakashi: The Search for Tingle.

The first track is titled “Home”. This is what we’ve imagined the feeling will be inside of Tingle’s house. It will be somewhat jaunty, while remaining crisp and playful.

The second track is titled “Field”. It will likely end up being one of our “in the field” types of tracks, used when exploring an open, calm area.

The third and final track has been dubbed “Forest”. I think that this track’s name gives away a bit too much information about the game. It has a nice, spooky feeling to it, and will be used when venturing through a “Lost Woods” type of forest.

As you can see, we’ve been working hard away at the game, and hopefully we’ll have something that will explode your Nintendo DS soon enough. Keep checking and waiting for more updates on Kakashi: The Search for Tingle!

Top Five Zelda Games of All Time + Pokemon News + Kakashi Update

Our friends over at Zelda Informer have just released an article/video that they have been working on for over eight months. You can be the judge over whether or not it was worth all of that time, but it’s a nice six minute watch if you’re interested in seeing what opinions people over at other websites have on on the series. And although we don’t normally cover non Zelda-related projects, our sources tell us that most of you also play the games from the Pokèmon series. Anyway, Nintendo has just announced the new “starter” Pokèmon for the Black and White installments in the series. Visit Official Nintendo Magazine‘s site for more information.

Finally, we have a special announcement; this coming week, we will have a beta testing engine for Kakshi: The Search for Tingle. Keep in mind that this will contain no actual gameplay, and will just demonstrate the way that our engine is shaping out to be.

Just a “Wii” ^(sic/pun) bit of news for you all…

As it turns out, we have been able to confirm the development of the work-in-progress (WIP) title known as Kakashi: The Search for Tingle…

Yes, we know that this [image] isn’t really “proof”, but if it was a hoax on our part -as some are claiming-, does anyone really think we’d go that far?

The answer is… ‘yes’. As it would happen to be, Vanpool is not the company behind the development of this game, but Zelda in my Pocket is. Yes, that’s right; this entire charade was in fact an advertising campaign for ZimP’s upcoming Nintendo DS fan-made title, Kakashi: The Search for Tingle. This was done solely by our team; there were no other people or websites involved with the planning or execution.

Behind the scenes, our staff members have been slaving away in order to get this game moving. I, Alter, on behalf of Zelda in my Pocket would like to personally thank them for their hard work, as well as for helping our site pull off what has arguably been the largest-scale practical joke since the fake Zelda movie that IGN produced back in 2006. ^{1, 2}

Yes, that’s right, we’ve processed a little more information about the new Tingle game.

In light of some of the community reception, let me be clear: We’re not trying to hoard information, and keep news from everyone else. We simply want to ensure that this is legit information before we announce it to the world. Also, it seems as though some people are beginning to doubt the truth of our story, so we thought we’d release “proof”, as Nathan of ZeldaInformer.com seems to want.
