Hello, Zelda in my Pocket fans! This is just a brief update to let you know that we’re planning on releasing some new content come this New Year!

At this point, all of the staff past staff members have dispersed, and no word has been heard even though attempt at contact has been made. As of now, it will probably just be “me” handling some of the work, but once that’s been finished, I plan on selling this website. As you may know, there’s a lot of content which has been never been published, and I’m working on getting some of that up, and cleaning up the design/layout. As such, we will not be accepting any applications at this time. (As if we’ve had any requests during our hiatus.)

The website will probably be auctioned off, and I plan to start the bidding at $2,000 USD. The sale of Zelda in my Pocket will only be made to those planning on continuing the theme, and who have a genuine interest in the Legend of Zelda handheld series. If you’re interested in buying, please contact me by writing to maktesh[at]hotmail.com.

We’re also discontinuing all of our affiliations at this time (besides Kirameki), and want to inform all of our affiliates that they no longer need to be linking to us.

Finally, the Kakashi project is 100% dead. All of the files will be given to the buyer of ZimP, or sold to anyone who makes an acceptable offer. (Try ~$50)

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to both exiting ZimP’s hiatus and passing on the torch.

Hello, everyone. I, Maktesh, just wanted to leave a quick post and assure you that we are still here (albeit gone for nearly four months). We’re currently working on updating this website, and will be moving forward early this summer. I hesitate to use the term “relaunch”, but that’s essentially what will be happening. At this point, most of the site staff members have departed, not just this website, but the Zelda community in general. People grow and/or get too busy. It happens. Regardless, we’ll be doing some slight redesign work, finishing up our content (mostly with a media focus), and talk about collecting more staff members in the near future.

On the topic of staff, I apologize to all who have applied for a position over the last few months. Although we responded personally with this, we want to let everyone know that it’s nothing personal, and at this point, has nothing to do with any sort of skill level (or lack thereof). We’re simply on hiatus, and are not taking any applications.

Also, I want personally apologize to our affiliates. We have not been active, and have been removed from many of their lists. We will attempt to rebuild a friendship with you when we are able to make this site self-sufficient. On that topic, this site is actually doing very well. We’ve only slightly dropped in viewership over the last few months, meaning that you all appreciate our content enough to keep coming back, even when there’s nothing new. Thank you all!

On a final note, the remaining staff at Zelda in my Pocket (I’ll be blunt; There really may only be two or three of us at this point) would like to wish you a happy Easter Sunday. At Zelda in my Pocket, we will recognize this holiday due to it’s special importance of celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We’ve just redone some of the basic features on our current game pages. As of now, we’ve only redone small parts of the content, fixing gammrer dan spekking erroes. ..Er, grammar and spelling errors. The most notable change is the addition of the game boxes we’ve added for each of the games. You can see an example of one of them below.

Also, we’re currently working on updating the content for the games we have listed. As soon as those have been finished, we’ll be adding in other titles, such as Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks. Be sure to keep checking out those pages, as the character guides, walkthroughs and downloads sections will be expanding.

Finally, we’ll be reworking the home page in the coming days. There have been no final decisions regarding how it will turn out, so we would much appreciate your input in the comments section. We most likely will be moving this very blog to a different page, and creating a static page where we can have more links, images and feeds.

Hello, followers of Zelda in my Pocket. This post has been in the making for a long time, and quite frankly may surprise all of you.

First off, let me introduce myself. My handle, penname, etc. is Maktesh, and I am the legal owner of Zelda in my Pocket. I was one of the members associated with the original Zelda in my Pocket, so I felt a call to restore the website in Duncan’s memory. I have never publically come forth about this issue due to the fact that I am currently fulfilling the busy life of a college student and web designer, and have not had the time to be active in the Zelda universe.

For the last year or so, my friend, Alter Stevens, has been diligently running this website. The reason I’m writing this today is to make a series of announcements. The first is that I will now be fronting the leadership of Zelda in my Pocket. This fact brings me to some news that I regret having to present, thus I will tiptoe through it as lightly and sensibly as possible. Alter has formally resigned from Zelda in my Pocket, and currently has no plans of returning to the website or the community.

The reason for Alter’s resignation lies with some personal issues that he has been dealing with, which have been very straining on his personal life. He needs some time to mentally recover, as well as tackle some of the things that have exponentially increased his strain. In the letter he left, he indicated that handling this website has contributed to some of these strains, and he feels that in order to recover, he needed to let go of Zelda in my Pocket.

Alter will be missed by many, but I believe that he is being made a better person through these ordeals.

Moving forward with the updates, Alter has been acting as my avatar for the last couple of years, building up relationships for this website and in the community. As one of his friends, and the proud owner of this website, I ask that you all give him a round of applause for his success in building this site from the ground up.

However, this again leads me to an uncomfortable issue. Although I’m proud of the way the site turned out, the ends do not justify the means. From what I understand, there has been plenty of toe-stepping on Alter’s part, both on and off of Zelda in my Pocket. I would like to offer a formal apology to anyone who feels as though they have been wronged by either Alter or Zelda in my Pocket. As Alter was acting on my behalf, it is my moral obligation to take full responsibility for his actions. I feel deep regret that some in the community have feelings of animosity towards our site. I hope that we will be able to build trust and friendship on the grounds of a new beginning.

I am not fully aware of every event that has taken place on this website, especially the discussions and occurrences that took place off-site. I have not been a part of the universal Zelda community for a couple of years, and even longer since I was active. I apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge regarding surrounding Zelda-based websites, especially those who we are affiliated with.

Other than the creation of the current layout, I’ve had almost nothing to do with Zelda in my Pocket since its restoration. I feel as though I missed out on something special by not taking part in the start of this website, but looking at things, there’s much more room for growth, and I look forward to heading the new projects that we’ll be bringing forth.

Back to the problems that have occurred revolving around this site, I wish to assure you that there will be no further instances where people or websites feel as though they have been wronged by us. From now on, this website will purely reflect the values of its owner and staff members. We will attempt to right any wrongs, and make this website a place where all are welcomed and treated with respect.

Thank you for reading this long-winded ‘statement’, and I ask that you continue to support this website, especially in-light of the new doors that we’ll be exploring.

I wish you all a belated “Merry Christmas”, as well as a “Happy New Year”. This upcoming year will bring many great things our way, and I look forward to having both you and I take part in it.

We just wanted to post a nice, quick update in order to inform you all that we’ve now updated our Minish Cap walkthrough! Our guide will now take you through the Temple of Droplets; you’ll notice we’re getting close to completion. And once the guide is all up, we’ll add images and create a new guide template, allowing for a cleaner reading experience. Again, a special thanks to Micheal for all of his hard work!

So as many of you may have noticed, we’ve been a little down as of late. The reason for this can mostly be summed up with two statements; the first being that there has really been no handheld news since The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks was released last December. The second would be that, well, many of us have been quite busy. Personally, I, Alter, am transferring schools to the other side of the States in a couple of days. Our other Webmaster, Justin will also be attending college this Autumn. In light of these events, fear not; we plan to keep the site active, and have some other staffers ready to take the baton until life returns to normal!

Until that moment, however, we have another little mini-article ready for you!

Death in The Legend of Zelda — Part 1

Death— the very word may just send a faint chill down your spine. However, in the context of the virtual world, most of us don’t give it a second thought (Unless, of course, by “death”, you mean the deletion of your Facebook account). What I mean by this is that in real life, the power of death is a great adversary— one that you and I are unable to conquer. However, when you’re gunned down by an enemy combatant in Call of Duty or have your last heart stabbed by a Moblin in Link’s Awakening, do you really give it much thought? Assuming you’re not on a speed run, and are reasonably sane, chances are that the answer is “no”. In 95% of video games, you can either load your last save point, restart the level, or simply be self-revived and lose a few points.

For some odd reason, game developers have no problem with adding endless blood and gore into death scenes, whether it be the protagonist’s or an NPC’s death. However, they seem to neglect actually making death meaningful…

Hey, everyone! You’ll be pleased to know that…well…some of us are back. I got back in town a little while ago, but it seems that Alter is nowhere to be found, as are…well…most of the staff. However, Cody and I are back, and we’ll attempt to keep Zelda in my Pocket alive as much as we can.

In other news…well, I bought a website. It’s not really news, but hey, new affiliate, right?

In any case, good to be back, and we hope you’re glad to have us back! We’ll never leave you again, loyal fans…at least, we’ll try.

We at Zelda in my Pocket have had an interesting scenario appear in the last two days. It would seem that we will be unstaffed for this upcoming week. Heh heh… oops. Let me explain: I, Alter, am going to be out of town, Justin is already out of town and Fredrick has been aloof in recent times. That’s it for the administrators, but what about the others? Well, Chris has been MIA, Alex is wrapping some things up before getting bogged down with schoolwork and Cody is away at camp. Cody? Ah, yes. I forgot to let you all know; we have a new staffer! Meet Cody (a.k.a. Ver-go)! Some of you may know him a bit; he used to be active around the Zelda Dungeon forums. Anyway, we’ll be formally introducing him later on, but maybe he’ll make a post if he can!

Also, you’ll notice we have a handful of new Affiliates! The first one is Kirameki (yes, the same ones hosting the Irodzuki Tincle no Koi no Balloon Trip translation poll). Kirameki is known for their various translation work, and through affiliation, we can hopefully support their endeavors in translating such great games. The second affiliate is Nintendo Buzz. Seeing as they focus on all Nintendo news, I highly recommend them for all of your Pokémon and Mario needs. Our third and final affiliate is Exploding Deku Nut! (Try saying that three times fast!) They’re well-known for their awards throughout the Zelda community, as well as their occasional off-the-wall antics.

In other news… well, there really is none. Back in a week, folks!

Well, now it appears that there’s a possibility of a fan translation for Color Changing Tingle’s Love Balloon Trip (a.k.a Irodzuki Tincle no Koi no Balloon Trip)! There’s a group which we’re unfamiliar with, known as Kirameki, which creates fan translations of various games. (The one I immediately noticed was Captain Rainbow, known for it’s numerous Nintendo and Zelda cameos.) Kirameki currently has a poll going on which is inquiring as to which game their team should begin translating next. It just so happens that  Irodzuki Tincle no Koi no Balloon Trip is on their list. You all know what that means; you need to get over there and cast your vote. It’s a matter of life and death. Well, not really, but it would quite nice if we had a translation coming that quickly.

Apparently, until I’d cast my own vote, Tales of Hearts was tied with Irodzuki Tincle no Koi no Balloon Trip, but now we’re leading by one vote. Get over there and make sure that the translation your b=voice is heard! (Of course, that’s only if you’re voting for Irodzuki Tincle no Koi no Balloon Trip.)

In other news, some Japanese scientist have discovered something quite amazing. Think Star Wars. Basically, we’re now looking at having full-fledged, interactive holograms which you can essentially “feel”. And how do they detect motion? None other than… Wiimotes.
