Zelda Wii release dateAn interesting tidbit to accompany yesterday’s post confirming the announcement of the release date, I thought some would be interested to hear that almost 2 months ago, there was a report of a possible outing of the release date coming from a leaked image of Gamestop’s internal listing of games to come in the latter part of the year. The list includes several other games that all have correct release dates, and the date listed for Zelda Wii is November 1, 2010. I would suggest taking this with a grain of salt as nothing is certain until we get an official account from Nintendo at E3 here in a matter of weeks, but this is an interesting and intriguing article and picture I thought some of you would be interested to see. If this is true, I know where I’ll be at the stroke of midnight on Halloween night this year: my local Wal-Mart!

That’s right, apparently Nintendo is set to reveal the release date of the much-anticipated new game, which will also be released with MotionPlus controls. This revelation likely means that after E3, fans will finally have a number in mind for how much longer the community will have to wait for what promises to be an excellent new adventure in the series. It appears our days of waiting have been numbered by Nintendo. More to come on this topic as it develops.

Ezlo from The Minish CapHello to all you great Zelda fans out there! My name is Christopher Jenkins (Chris to my friends), also an avid Zelda fanatic, and I am a new staffer here at ZIMP. I have been tasked by my old friend and colleague Alter with starting a new line of articles for this site, and I was more than happy to accept. To speak a bit about myself, I have been a Zelda fan for basically all of my life, the series sharing an almost identical age to myself (July 1987) here in America. I loved the sense of adventure and excitement the games had to offer, as I’m sure most all of you reading this also did. I have done extensive research on the series for many long years hoping to unlock some of its secrets, a testament to how fascinated I’ve been by the series even to this day. Now, Alter has offered me the chance to come onto an actual Zelda site and discuss my ideas with all of you and to hear some of yours as well so as to share our ideas and insight into the series. You never know which topic I may pick up on each time I write for the site, though as the site’s name implies most will involve the handheld Zelda games that many tend to overlook due to the epic scope of the main console games. Each topic on which I write for the site will be chosen at random, though there may be times where some will relate to others in one way or another.

My first topic will focus primarily on one of the more curious and quite epic of the handheld games, The Minish Cap. This game seemingly tells the origin story of one of the series’ major villains, Vaati (originally a Minish sage’s apprentice who lusts for power), as well as the Four Sword that has been known to be capable of vanquishing him. In the game, Vaati comes to Hyrule from the Minish world when the portal that links it to Hyrule opens for a brief time as is customary once a century. He hopes to obtain the mythical Light Force, a source of limitless magical power…

Yes, yes; the title says it all.

It was just announced by Shigeru Miyamoto that we will understand who the mystery character seen in a certain piece of art is at this coming E3. It was also announced that they’ve “flipped” the usual order of creating the game’s plotline as opposed to the gameplay:

“Normally, we create the video sequences, and these sequences are expanded. But this time we started with the game structure. And then with the video sequences. So this time it was reversed. Therefore, we have had little so far from the game to show. But will publish a lot close to the game’s completion.” – Shigeru Miyamoto

We’re hoping that this excites all of you as much as it does us!

Our friends over at Zelda Informer have just released an article/video that they have been working on for over eight months. You can be the judge over whether or not it was worth all of that time, but it’s a nice six minute watch if you’re interested in seeing what opinions people over at other websites have on on the series. You can visit Zelda Informer’s website here to check out the article.

And although we don’t normally cover non Zelda-related projects, our sources tell us that most of you also play the games from the Pokèmon series. Anyway, Nintendo has just announced the new “starter” Pokèmon for the Black and White installments in the series. Visit Official Nintendo Magazine‘s site for more information.

Finally, we have a special announcement; this coming week, we will have a beta testing engine for Kakshi: The Search for Tingle. Keep in mind that this will contain no actual gameplay, and will just demonstrate the way that our engine is shaping out to be.
